Adam White, President of the Power and Sensing Systems Business Unit at Infineon Technologies, said: "With a new solution, Infineon has paved the way for smart locks to replace keys and enter thousands of homes. Our smart lock solutions do not require replacement. Batteries, the first to provide a reliable, maintenance-free and secure way to open and close smart locks."

Infineon pointed out that the company will also apply wireless power transfer solutions to other areas. "Our wireless power transfer solution will help save resources by being free from the constraints of batteries. In addition, it will enable new applications and scenarios that have traditionally been complex or cost-prohibitive due to the use of batteries. problem," Adam White added. For example, passive bicycle tire pressure sensors based on NFC communication can measure parameters that were previously difficult to obtain.

To activate the smart lock, you must place the phone directly on it and use Near Field Communication (NFC) to verify that the device has permission to open the smart lock. This is where encryption technology comes in. At the same time, power is wirelessly transmitted to the capacitor to open or close the smart lock.

The core device of this solution is a 32-bit programmable microcontroller based on the ARM®Cortex®-M0 core, which has a built-in NFC wireless communication module. The NAC1080 integrates the power generation unit and the half-bridge driver IC, allowing customers to design a small smart lock with few components and bring it to market. NAC1080 also integrates an AES128 accelerator and a true random number generator, which can encrypt and decrypt data while achieving ultra-low power consumption.

This technology from Infineon is particularly suitable for applications that require micro or small mechanical locks, such as office appliances, hospitals and gyms. Other potential applications include bicycle locks, post boxes and parcel lockers. As a result, the solution not only brings greater convenience and flexibility, but also reduces key management costs for both private and commercial properties.

The new solution from Infineon can also be used for door locking systems with complex functions. It can be used as an emergency solution when the battery of the smart door lock is dead or the key is lost. While this solution has a longer response time for more complex door locking systems, it does free users from the shackles of expensive unlocking services.
