   Renesas Electronics has extended its RZ/V family of microprocessors to the new RZ/V2L microprocessors for entry level AI applications. Compared to the previous RZ/V2M, the new MPU features high precision AI reasoning capability and top power efficiency. It also incorporates optimizations such as customizing the DRP-AI operating frequency and memory interface for entry-level MPUs. Also as part of the family, the new MPU includes the company's exclusive AI accelerator, DRP-AI, which makes embedded AI easier and more energy efficient.

    Drp-ai provides real-time AI reasoning and image processing capabilities with features critical to camera support such as color correction and noise reduction. This allows customers to develop AI-based visual applications such as POS terminals and robotic vacuum cleaners without the need for an external ISP. In addition, because the device has good power utilization, there is no need to use heat dissipation measures such as radiators or cooling fans. Ai can now be cost-effective not only in surveillance cameras and industrial equipment, but also in a wide range of applications, including home appliances and consumer electronics.

    The RZ/V2L is also compatible with existing RZ/G2L universal MPU packages and pins. This enables RZ/G2L users to simply upgrade to RZ/V2L for additional AI capabilities without changing system configuration, thus keeping migration costs low.
