The LT1237 is an advanced low-power three-driver, five-receiver RS232 transceiver. A closing pin is included on the chip to reduce the power current to near zero. During a shutdown, a receiver remains active to detect incoming RS232 signals, such as a wake-up system. The LT1237 fully complies with all EIA RS232 specifications.
Typical application
The new on-chip ESD architecture allows the LT1237 to withstand multiple ±15kV shocks, eliminating the need for expensive RS232 wire pins on TransZorbs. The LT1237 operates at more than 120kbaud even driving heavy loads. Two shutdown modes allow drive output to be turned off separately from the receiver for more versatile RS232 interface control. During the shutdown, both the driver and the receiver are in a high impedance state
