Dialog Semiconductor announces that Le Mobile & Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recently launched smartphones Le Max and Le 1 Pro with power adapters, including Dialog's iW1780 / + iW626 Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 adapter chipset.

The iW626 fast charge interface IC is located on the secondary side of the AC / DC charger power supply and is used with Dialog's iW1780 PrimAccurate ™ primary-side digital pulse width modulation (PWM) controller. The iW1780 uses a unique secondary-to-primary digital communication link signal to receive all fast charging commands from the iW626 through a single optocoupler. The iW626 + iW1780 chipset supports Quick Charge 2.0 High Voltage Dedicated Charging Port (HVDCP) Class A (5V, 9V, 12V output) applications, which can provide fast voltage conversion and low no-load power consumption below 100mW.
Dialog's SmartDefender Advanced IC technology in iW1780 provides adapter security to protect mobile devices from thermal damage caused by shorts in dirty or damaged charging ports or wear of USB cables and connectors. The iW1780 PWM controller's SmartDefender protection reduces the average power delivered to the short circuit by up to 75% without blocking. The company says this helps prevent excessive heat build-up and damage, resulting in safer, more reliable fast charging-all without adding any components.
