Diodes Incorporated's new AP3405 DC-DC step-down converter is targeted at mobile phones, wearables and similar battery-powered applications, providing high efficiency at light and heavy loads. Operating at a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components, and the small U-DFN2020-8 package also saves board area.
The AP3405 current-mode PWM synchronous buck converter can operate from 2.3V to 5.5V VIN and provides an output from 0.7V to 5.5V with an accuracy of ± 1.5% and a maximum of 600mA. The 32uA low quiescent current consumption helps extend battery life, while the internal MOSFET with low RDS (ON) enables high efficiency under all load conditions.
AP3405's built-in comprehensive protection function can protect the end system and the device itself. These include h-mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP), and over-current protection (OCP).
