Diodes Inc.'s AL99 series high-voltage LED driver provides an effective solution for offline, high-brightness LED lamps and other applications. They have an internal MOSFET that allows switching frequencies up to 300kHz, and the switching frequency is determined by a single external resistor.
The AL99 topology generates a constant current through the LED, which provides a constant light output. The output current is programmed by an external resistor. You can use the LD and PWM pins of AL99 to change the brightness of the LED through linear and PWM dimming, respectively. The PWM input operates with a duty cycle of 0-100% and a frequency up to a few kHz.
Applications include LED offline lights, high-voltage DC-DC LED drivers, signage and decorative LED lighting, backlighting for flat panel displays, and universal constant current source requirements.
