Designed to meet the power needs of next-generation automotive audio and infotainment systems, the A8600 provides all control and protection circuits to produce four high-current regulators with an accuracy of ±1.5% each. The A8600 includes control circuits to implement three adjustable asynchronous step-down regulators integrated with MOSFETs. In addition, a control circuit, gate driver, and current sensing are provided to implement a synchronous step-down controller with an external mosfet.
Major features
In standby mode, the A8600 draws less than 50 μA from a 12 V VIN while using pulse frequency modulation (PFM) to deliver 3.3V /40 μA via a constant-open regulator SW1. Operating voltage of constant open regulator is at least 3.6V (VIN drop). The A8600 features include: an EN/SYNC input for turning the A8600 on/off or increasing/decreasing the basic pulse width modulation (PWM) frequency, four adjustable soft startup times, and four external compensation pins. Output voltage monitoring of switches SW2, SW3, and SW4 is provided by a single leak-opening POK output.

In addition, the A8600 offers two high-voltage high-side switches with foldable overcurrent protection. The two high-side switches actively block the reverse current. The A8600 also offers direct battery (BU) and switch (accessory) battery (ACC) detectors and silent pulse output with adjustable delay.
Protection features of the A8600 include pulse-to-pulse current limiting, short-circuit mode protection, asynchronous diode protection, BOOT voltage protection, undervoltage locking, overvoltage protection, and thermal shutdown. The A8600 comes in a low-key 48-pin LQFP package (suffix JP) with an exposed power pad. It is lead-free (Pb), with 100% matte tin lead frame plating.
